It was a tough period when the Australian team was embarrassed in South Africa during the ball-tampering saga. They are still trying to find their proper XI across the formats. During the course, Darren Lehmann, who was expected to call it quits after the 2019 World Cup, announced his departure with teary eyes after the South African tour.

Meanwhile, Darren expressed his eagerness to make a comeback into the game. He wants to stick with the team at least for a short period. Darren Lehmann believed he is still the best coach in the cricketing arena.

I would like to coach one day again – Darren Lehmann

The ex-head coach quoted he would love to coach his team once again in the future for a short stint. The former Aussie feels he still got the juice in him to deliver the goods for the country across the formats.

However, he admitted there is always the stress factor in coaching the team. Further, he also spoke about the progress of banned trio Steven Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft.

“I’d like to coach again one day. I think I’m a good coach, my coaching record is pretty good. At some stage, I’ll get there. A shorter commitment is probably the way to go … that’s probably what I’m looking for. But I’m just going to stay away from it this summer, watch the cricket and enjoy it. See what comes up next year,” Darren Lehmann told AAP at the launch of Fox Cricket.

“I speak to them all the time. They’re going alright. They’ll come back really well. They’re good young men and they’ll come back. They’ve been training, hitting and they’re fit. Spending some time away from the game as well. I’d love them to be available for domestic cricket but that’s not my decision. That’s the powers above me,” he added.

However, it has been a roller-coaster journey for Darren Lehmann in the last six months. Though he missed out donning the baggy green, Lehmann spent quality time with his family.
