Balwinder Singh Sandhu, the former World Cup-winning player, may end his association with Mumbai North East, a report in mid-day suggests.

The report says that Sandhu wrote an e-mail to the franchise, seeking an official contract regarding his appointment.

However, the franchise says that Sandhu has decided to quit his post due to other coaching commitments.

The former Indian player was in attendance during the Mumbai T20 league auction day, helping his franchise choosing the players.

The franchise is already in talks with Sulakshan Kulkarni, former first-class player, who will replace Sandhu.

This is the second biggest controversy that has hit the league even before its the start.

Earlier, before the auction, one of the franchises backed out at the last minute, and now, a star player pulling out of the league may be the last thing which the organisers would want.

Sandhu’s exit will surely be a matter that would be highlighted much.
