Shakib Al Hasan is fast becoming controversy’s favourite child. Just a few months ago, the Bangladesh ace was all over the news for his unbelievable exploits in the World Cup. However, things have not gone well since then. Under his captaincy, Bangladesh lost the one-off Test to Afghanistan at home.

Recently, he also led a players’ strike which eventually ended on a good note as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) accepted the players’ demand. However, just a few days after that strike, Shakib Al Hasan landed in hot water for violating the terms and conditions of the BCB after signing as the brand ambassador of a telecom company.

Shakib had signed as the brand ambassador of country’s telecom major ‘Grameenphone’, which is a direct competitor of team’s sponsor ‘Robi’. The BCB was furious with his action and issued him a show-cause notice straightaway. BCB president Nazmul Hasan had also said that the board would take a legal action against the allrounder.

However, recently BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed that the board would not take any legal action against the allrounder but the latter needs to give a reply to the notice. And Cricbuzz has now reported that the ace allrounder is looking set to miss the upcoming tour of India.

Shakib Al Hasan has attended only one net session during the four-day preparation camp that included two warm-up T20 matches. With Shakib Al Hasan not available and Tamim Iqbal also pulling out of the tour, Bangladesh look likely to announce a fresh T20I squad on Tuesday (October 29).

”We will announce the T20 team tomorrow [October 29] at noon. We need some more time to announce our Test team. We will announce it two to three days later,” Akram Khan, BCB’s cricket operations chairman, said.

The report further claimed that Nazmul Hasan called some senior members of the set-up to discuss strategies ahead of the tour but Shakib wasn’t part of the meeting. Bangladesh, meanwhile, will play three T20Is and two Tests in India.
