Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has sacked first-class coaches for not fielding leg-spinners in the ongoing National Cricket League. Meanwhile, BCB recently made it mandatory to field at least one leg-spinner and a fast bowler who bowl at a speed of over 140 kmph.

The move recently came into force as Bangladesh have lacked in international cricket due to lack of quality leg-spinners in their senior team. The lack of domestic match practice for batsmen against leg-spin was also one of the reasons as Rashid Khan tore apart Bangladesh in the recent series.

“We had given clear instructions to play leg-spinners in the NCL, but neither… was picked in the starting eleven,” board president Nazmul Hassan told reporters on Thursday. “We have to give them game time. How can they improve otherwise?” he added.

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan also confirmed that they will enforce the same rule in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The effectiveness of the leg-spinners are on an all-time high as teams have benefitted immensely from them, especially India.
