After a fine performance in the first Test, Bangladesh retained most of their players for the second Test as well. On Tuesday, they declared their squad for the second Test against the Windies. Meanwhile, the match is scheduled to be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. However, Shakib Al Hasan will once again lead the side.
Imrul Kayes rested:
The only change in the squad is the opening batsman Imrul Kayes, who has been rested for the game. In all the likelihood, Shadman Islam would take the opening role for Bangladesh.
In the absence of Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh is trying a different set of openers across the formats. This time, the young Shadman is all set to take the opening position for the team. Mostly, rest of the lineup would remain the same.
Surprisingly, Soumya Sarkar has once again got the nod from the selectors. He wasn’t at his best in the recent past, but still, the board decided to give him enough chances to settle in. Mominul Haque is the certain candidate at number three.
He will be followed by the young Mohammad Mithun and then the skipper Shakib Al Hasan. Mushfiqur Rahim will once again take the glove work for the side. The classy-right handed batsman, Mahmudullah also retained his place.
The bowling section also remained the same with all the bowlers getting retained. Mostly, Mehidy Hasan, Naeem Hasan and Taijul Islam will take care of spin bowling while Mustafizur Rahman will be the solitary fast bowler.
Coming to the series, Bangladesh already took the unassailable lead by winning the game at Chittagong. The victory or a draw in Dhaka will see them lifting the trophy or else the series would get shared.
Also, here is the squad:
Shakib (c), Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Mithun, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan, Mustafizur Taijul, Islam Naeem Hasan, Ariful Haque, Khaled Ahmed, Shadman Islam
