BCB in No Hurry to Appoint New Head Coach

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are in no hurry to appoint a new head coach after former Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurasingha resigned from the post to join his native country.

The upcoming tri-series between Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka followed by the India-Sri Lanka series are most likely to be played without a head coach.

However, BCB has received a lot of application for the head coach’s role; and they have decided to take their time.

Notably, former Bangladesh coach Richard Pybus and former coach of West Indies T20 World Cup winning team, Phil Simmons have submitted their resume to BCB, showing interest to take up the prestigious role. But, BCB is yet to take a call on the new boss of Shakib Al Hasan & Co.

“We are in discussion about the selection of new coach for Bangladesh team. There has been no decision as of yet. The BCB president (Nazmul Hasan) talked with a few persons. It has not been confirmed who will be the next coach,” Jalal Younis, BCB’s media, and communication committee chairman was heard saying.

Bangladesh will start their new year with the tri-nation series, and players are scheduled to join the camp starting on December 27, which will be run by other coaching staffs.

BCB is in search of someone who can be with the team for at least two years.

“We don’t know if we can bring a new coach before December 27. But we are trying. Actually, we don’t want to hurry to select our next coach. We want to hire a coach for at least two years. So it is difficult to give the responsibility to someone in a hurry,” Jalal concluded.
