The Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] has requested its Cricket Australia counterparts to allow the families of the players to travel with them during their upcoming tour Down Under.

Team India will travel to Australia for a series consisting of six white-ball internationals [3 ODIs followed by 3 T20Is] and the all-important four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series.

The Men in Blue will directly travel to Australia from the United Arab Emirates after the completion of the IPL. The Test players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, who are not part of the ongoing cash-rich league, along with the support-staff will travel to the UAE, where they will undergo a six-day quarantine before they join the rest of the squad for the tour.

Will Cricket Australia consider BCCI’s request of allowing players’ families to travel with them?

In the past couple of days, a lot of details have emerged on the much-awaited Indian tour of Australia. According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, Cricket Australia has received the state government’s approval as far as the quarantine of the Indian team in Sydney is concerned.

The Indian team led by Virat Kohli will be quarantining in Sydney before the series eventually kicks off with a One-day International at the Sydney Cricket Ground on November 27.

And, while the BCCI and CA are on the same page when it comes to other issues, but if there is one issue on which the two boards aren’t of the same view, is regarding whether to allow families to travel with the players.

CA has held the view that it is advisable for families to be barred from traveling with players, given the security and sanctity of the bio-bubble.

“CA has advised families of players to be barred from traveling, considering the sensitivity and sanctity of the bio-bubble. But given the prolonged duration of the bubble the players will remain in, it would be in their interest if the families can be with them in Australia, at least for some time. Hopefully, the issue will be sorted out soon,” a BCCI insider was quoted as saying by ‘The Hindu’
