BCCI Considering Two-Match Ban for Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul Likely to Escape

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) who acted promptly to issue showcause notices to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, is yet to decide on the quantum of their punishment. However, it is likely that KL Rahul will escape while Hardik Pandya may receive a two-match ban.

Meanwhile, the duo recently appeared in a talk show named Koffee With Karan, where they made sexist and misogynistic comments. They received a lot of flak since the episode went on air which compelled BCCI to issue a notice and ask them to reply with 24 hours. Hardik Pandya, on Wednesday, responded saying that he regrets his comments made on the show.

“I made an appearance on the chat show where I have made certain statements without realising that these could be disrespectful and offend sensitivities of viewers for which I am sincerely regretful,” he wrote in his response, which is in PTI’s possession.

“I would like to assure you that there was no malice or any sort of ill-intent on my part to offend anyone or portray any section of the society in bad light. The statements came out in the flow of the show and had not comprehended the extent to which my statements would be found offensive,” he added.

However, many have already raised questions on BCCI for delaying to decide on the amount of punishment. But the main problem for them is the legal sustainability of such actions. CoA have sent all the replies to their legal advisor Amarchand Mangaldas, a legal advisor from Mumbai. It is likely that Hardik Pandya may get a ban for his actions while Kl Rahul will escape with a rap on the knuckle.
