BCCI Grants Membership To Cricket Association Of Uttarakhand

Finally, the Cricket Association Of Uttarakhand has got the full-time membership by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). From now, the board will be the representative to run cricket tournament in the state with full authority.

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) handed the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) full BCCI membership. The decision brought an end to a longstanding dispute over which body from the state would be part of Indian cricket’s mainstream.

Apart from that, the CAU state body has also been told to appoint an electoral officer and conduct elections. It will be in accordance with the approved constitution rules as mentioned by CoA by

September 14.

Cricket Association of Uttarakhand has been inducted as full member:

For a long time now, the four boards, Uttarakhand Cricket Association (UKCA), United Cricket Association (UTCA), Uttaranchal Cricket Association (UCA) and CAU vying for BCCI certification. However, following a visit from the BCCI’s Affiliation Committee comprising Anshuman Gaekwad and Saba Karim, CAU was granted full membership.

“Cricket Association of Uttarakhand has just been inducted as member association and as a full member and accordingly COA will be communicating amendments required in their constitution,” a CoA statement said.

The Affiliation Committee also granted associate membership of the BCCI to the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA), which allows teams from Chandigarh to participate in the 2019-20 domestic season across age groups. Former India bowler VRV Singh will coach the senior men’s team.

CAU’s aggregate revenue over the years from the financial year 2005-06 to 2017-18 amounted to a little over Rs 2.59 crore compared to the UCA’s Rs 10.84 lakh. It was one of the reasons behind CAU getting the nod ahead of the rest.

Apart from the appointment of VRV Singh, the association is also looking to hire the coaches for the young teams and also for the women cricket team in the state.
