ToggleGone are those days when the game of cricket used to reach the fans through Radios. Back then, it was a distant dream to have a Television in the home, so, fans used to follow the action through radio commentary. Now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants to bring back those old moments back again, as they partnered with All India Radio (AIR) to provide live commentary.

All International Matches In India Will be covered:
The commentary will be provided for both domestic and International matches across the country. On Tuesday, BCCI has announced a two-year radio rights arrangement with the All India Radio (AIR). The AIR will provide live commentary for all international matches in this period, and some key matches from domestic tournaments for men and women.
“This initiative will offer millions of listeners across India the opportunity to follow their favourite sport via live radio commentary,” a BCCI statement read. While all international matches in India will be covered, AIR will also cover certain matches in both men’s and women’s domestic tournaments.
The audio commentary will commence from the first game of India’s upcoming three-match T20I series against South Africa in Dharamsala on Sunday.

In addition to international matches, AIR will also provide coverage for the matches of Ranji, Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy, Women’s Challenger Series, Syed Mushtaq Trophy Super League, Irani Cup (Men) tournament.
The two-year tenure starts from September 10, 2019, and runs till August 31, 2021. Well, it would be interesting to see how things would work. All in all, it was a great initiative taken by the board, as there are a lot of fans, who loves to listen to the commentary of the game.

This is also a perfect time for AIR to be partnered with BCCI, as there are quite a few interesting series in the lineup for India. Most of the series will be hosted by India and then it will be followed by Indian Premier League 2020 and ICC T20I World Cup 2020. In between, Women T20I World Cup is also in the line.
