BCCI President Sourav Ganguly To Support Virat Kohli In Every Possible Way

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has been formally elected unopposed as the new Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President. Ganguly formally took over as the new supremo at the apex body’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai on October 23 (Wednesday).

Ganguly is likely to serve only 9 months as BCCI president as the cooling-off period clause in the new BCCI constitution makes it mandatory for board officials to step down after 6 years in office. Sourav Ganguly has also been at the helm of Cricket Association of Bengal of quite a few years now.

He took over the role in the aftermath of former ICC President Jagmohan Dalmiya’s demise. Ganguly, who followed Dalmiya as his mentor wants to follow his path in his new journey. Meanwhile, there was no need for elections after days of lobbying that went on before the filing of nominations.

Soon after taking over the office, Sourav Ganguly has set his priorities. He also urged to support India skipper Virat Kohli is every possible as he vouches to take Indian cricket a step ahead. Ganguly recently said he wants India to win ICC tournaments.

“I will speak to him (Virat Kohli) tomorrow. He is the captain of India. He is the most important man in Indian cricket. We will support him in every possible way,” Ganguly said.

Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly is likely to meet Virat Kohli tomorrow. The selectors will sit to pick the T20I squad for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh starting from November 3. Ganguly is likely to remain present during the meeting.
