Of late, the game of cricket has experienced quite a few disturbances regarding the age fraud of certain players. A few cricketers are plying their trade in the junior tournaments despite belonging to the other age groups. Finally, BCCI noticed the issue and came out with the suspension of two years for any individual committing the crime.

In a press release, the respective board declared that any cricketer found guilty of managing his date of birth will be suspended from participating in BCCI tournament for straight two years.

BCCI to follow Zero-Tolerance Policy:

Recently, regarding the same, Rahul Dravid also wanted to have the stricter punishments for the age fraud. He felt the teenagers are failing to get their opportunities because of the presence of over-aged players playing with the wrong date of birth certificate.

The statement read the board will be following the zero-tolerance policy in their punishments. They also made it clear the player will be disqualified on the spot and will be away from the board tournaments for two years.

“The BCCI has a zero-tolerance policy for age fraud in sport and has taken strict action against cricketers found guilty of manipulating their date of birth certificates while registering for BCCI tournaments.

“As conveyed to state associations at the start of the season, the board wishes to reiterate that from the 2018-19 season, any cricketer who is found guilty of tampering his/her date of birth will be disqualified and barred from participating in any BCCI tournament for a period of 2 years i.e. 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons,” the mail stated.

All in all, it is a decent measure from the Indian board to call for the two-year ban on the individual, who commits the fraud. Hopefully, it would help the teenagers to make it into their respective teams.
