England batsman Ben Duckett risked the ire of Indian fans again after posting a distasteful tweet about India star Virat Kohli, arguably the best batsman in the world right now.

Virat Kohli, on Friday, once again enhanced his reputation by playing a stunning 123-run knock against Australia in the third ODI. Chasing an improbable 314, India were in deep trouble very early on. Their openers – Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma – failed again along with Ambati Rayudu, leaving India reeling at 27 for 3. Virat Kohli then took the onus on himself to resurrect the innings and bring the chase on track.

He, however, found little support from the other end. The likes of MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav and Vijay Shankar got the starts but none of them managed to convert them. Kohli, however, stood firm and kept India in contention with a sublime ton. He waged a lone battle throughout his innings and was batting on 123 when Adam Zampa managed to sneak one through to get rid of the India skipper. Kohli’s dismissal saw India getting reduced to 219 for 6. India went on to lose the game by 32 runs after being all out for 281.

Kohli’s knock came off just 95 deliveries and contained 16 sixes and a maximum.

It was his 41st ODI ton and second in a row. Unsurprisingly, Kohli was garnering praise from all over the world. Fans, present and former players took to Twitter to hail the number-one ranked ODI batsman.

However, Ben Duckett decided to go against the popular sentiment and posted a message that pretty much shows why he is struggling not only in his career but also in his life. The left-handed batsman is yet to cement his place in the England team and has been involved in several controversies.

Talking about the tweet, Duckett called Kohli a joke while re-tweeting a tweet that asked its followers to complete the sentence – ‘ Virat Kohli is _______’ . The tweet was posted soon after Kohli reached his ton. Well, you cannot expect more from a player who pours drink over one of the senior-most players of his own time James Anderson. Before the start of the last Ashes, Duckett was sent home after pouring drinks over Anderson, England’s all-time leading wicket-taker in Tests.

An avid cricket lover, I just love this game more than anything. Writing about cricket keeps me closer to the game.
