England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the ongoing tour game leading up to the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka. The New Zealand-born all-rounder suffered an abdominal issue due to which he would miss the remaining part of the game. Leg-spinner Matt Parkinson replaced him. For the better, the camp confirmed that the abdominal problem is no way connected to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stokes’ participation in the first Test in Galle is yet to be confirmed.

The tourists are currently competing against Sri Lanka Board President XI at the P Sara Oval in Colombo. It is their second practice match after the first resulted in a draw at the FTZ Sports Complex at Katunayake. Centuries from opening batsman Zak Crawley and captain Joe Root set up a total of 463 in the first innings.

The likes of Ollie Pope, Dom Sibley, and Joe Denly also made handy contributions to the cause. In reply, the Englishmen have picked up three wickets with Chris Woakes picking up two and Parkinson bagging one. In retrospect, the tour itself remains under the cloud because of the Coronavirus situation similar to other sporting events around the world, with the majority of them either getting cancelled or postponed.
