Gone are those days when a couple of centuries in the domestic circuit would have paved a way into the Indian team. But, of late, even double centuries aren’t quite enough to make it into the senior team.

Probably, the competition between the players reached sky-high. The selection of players have also gone to the next level with yo-yo test is joining the pool of selection criteria. Meanwhile, we picked an Unselected XI of the current crop of in-form cricketers. Have a look:

Openers:

Mayank Agarwal & Gautam Gambhir:

Of late, Mayank Agarwal has been top-class with his performances. He regularly knocked the runs at a great pace and already bagged huge tallies under his belt. Mayank Agarwal crossed the barrier of playing for India- A as well.

With the Indian batsmen troubling in English conditions, BCCI selectors might try him in the near future. He is equally good in scoring runs at a brisk pace as well.

The other opening batsman neglected by the selectors is Gautam Gambhir. He scored runs in domestic circuit but wasn’t preferred by the selectors. Instead, India went with Shikhar Dhawan as the third opening option to England tour.

The presence of Gautam Gambhir in English conditions would have been very helpful for Team India. As he already toured England previously, Gambhir would have been more than handy with his solid defence and experience.

Middle-Order:

Sanju Samson, Yuvraj Singh & Ambati Rayudu:

The other top-class batsmen who are being wasted in the form of fitness concerns is Sanju Samson, Yuvraj Singh and Ambati Rayudu. The trio has the ability to take away the game from any opposition on their day.

They also possess the talent of filling the number 4 spot in the current setup as well but are being overlooked because of fitness. The experience of Yuvraj Singh will be a big boost for the team while Rayudu and Samson are in form of their life.

The Hyderabad skipper, Ambati Rayudu had a dream season with his willow for Chennai Super Kings and knocked big tallies in domestic circuit as well. The same implies to Sanju Samson who has been an exception in the 2017-18 season.

Both Sanju Samson and Ambati Rayudu were initially picked in Inda-A and Indian team respectively but the yo-yo test failure saw them missing in the side.

On the other side, Yuvraj Singh was initially taken off from the team saying the rest but surprisingly, they never called him back.

Wicket-keeper:

Rishabh Pant:

The stylish southpaw Rishabh Pant had the glorious year under his kitty. He has been scoring runs across the formats in each tour he was being picked. His recent success earned him a place in Test squad as well.

With MS Dhoni coming close to his retirement perhaps till the conclusion of ICC World Cup 2019,  Rishabh Pant is a sure shot option to take the place. Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik is failing to expose his incredible talent.

All-rounders:

Vijay Shankar & Krunal Pandya:

The current best all-rounders in the domestic circuit are Vijay Shankar and Krunal Pandya. They both have been very lethal in their ranks for India-A and in domestic circuits as well.

With Hardik Pandya being the lone all-rounder in the setup, the addition of his brother Krunal Pandya and Tamil Nadu’s Vijay Shankar might give the team management decent options to explore.

Fast-bowling department:

Mohammed Siraj, Rajneesh Gurbani & Navdeep Saini:

Of late, the best thing happened to Indian cricket is their fast bowling department. The exceptional ability of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Bumrah have been the assets of the team. Meanwhile, their pure dominance has seen the barricade for young talents.

Though Mohammed Siraj hasn’t done well in his initial chances, he got matured under Rahul Dravid in his India-A tour and been the show stopper. The other two in the radar is Gurbani and Navdeep Saini.

The right-handed fast bowlers have had a terrific season in the domestic circuit and can be the trump cards for India as well. With the Indian team following a rotation policy in the fast bowling department, their chance is on its way.
