Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the Indian seam-and swing bowler, has hailed current captain Virat Kohli for his contribution towards the meteoric rise of the fast bowling unit in the past few years.

The Indian fast bowling unit has undergone a whirlwind rise in the past 2-3 years and one of the many reasons for that has been the fitness culture that Virat Kohli has brought about in the set-up.

Apart from the improved fitness, Kohli has a penchant towards the fast bowler and that has been reflected by the amount of faith he has shown in his pace battery.

“I do not know whether it is the best or not but it is very good for sure because of every individual’s ability. You need the support of the captain through everything and Virat has always been helpful to each of us,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar told ANI.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar also talked about the upcoming Indian tour of Australia where the Men in Blue will be desperate to do an encore of their 2018 heist.

Bhuvi hailed Australia as one of the toughest opponents on their own soil but added that 14-day quarantine will actually help the visitors to get acclimatized to the conditions.

Everyone is excited for the series between India and Australia as, after a long time, there would be a game to watch, and also, we would be playing against one of the toughest opponents out there. He further added, “Yes, it [quarantine] will help for sure in preparing better for those conditions.”

Speaking of the revolution in the Indian pace-bowling unit, the likes of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah have wracked havoc all around the world in the past two years.

Since the start of 2018, the Indian pace-bowling group has claimed 427 wickets in 227 innings and their average and strike-rate of 22.96 and 47.0 are the best in the world. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, however, have missed a huge chunk of those Tests due to his back injuries. The Uttar Pradesh bowler last featured in a five-day game back in early 2018 against South Africa where he was also adjudged as India’s ‘Player of the Series’.
