Fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has recovered from sports hernia surgery to add steel to the formidable India bowling line-up ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia this year. The premier India fast bowler had picked up a groin injury before it was diagnosed as sports hernia. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, in the due course, had missed India’s tour to New Zealand in the beginning of the year.

On his return from London after the surgery, Bhuvneshwar Kumar underwent rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He would have missed the initial matches for the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 if the tournament would have got underway as per schedule.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar: I have fully recovered

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s return comes as an added boost to the national team. Premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been sharing the new-ball with the much improve Mohammed Shami and the Meerut express will only add depth to the Indian fast bowling. He has not played an international match since December last year.

“I have fully recovered from the injury and raring to go,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar told the Times of India.

“While it is hard to keep indoors for a person like me who has always been accustomed to travelling, training and doing outdoor activities, as an athlete these are the times when we still need to prioritize fitness even while staying safe at home,” he added.
