The two-time BBL champions Sydney Sixers will play this new BBL season as the defending champions. They will start this tournament to stretch their five-match winning streak in the BBL.

Ahead of the tournament opener, Sixers won two practice matches as they beat Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes.

As their captain Moises Henriques is currently with the Australia A squad after completing the home limited-overs international series against India, Daniel Hughes will handle the leadership of this team in the early part of this tournament.

Nick Bertus, Daniel Christian, Lawrence Neil-Smith, Tom Rogers and Gurinder Sandhu are the new names of the latest available Sydney Sixers squad.
