Pakistan’s desperate hopes of hosting full-strength international teams have taken yet another big blow as Bangladesh’s coaching staffs have reportedly declined to visit the country. Bangladesh are scheduled to visit Pakistan in February this year. However, they now face a tricky situation as most of their coaches have decided not to travel to Pakistan because of security reasons.

Pakistan recently hosted Sri Lanka for three T20Is and as many ODIs and did it successfully. However, Sri Lanka had to send a second-string side as ten players had pulled out of the tour. After the tour, Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva had given an insight on the team’s stay in Sri Lanka, saying that it was tough for the members as they had to stay indoor throughout.

“The roads are closed & they won’t allow you to move. It’s not easy, mentally it’s tough. We owed something to Pakistan because they’ve always helped us. We were able to bear it up for the sake of Pakistan but how much can you bear?,” Silva had said.

Talking about Bangladesh, Cricbuzz has reported that apart from the strength and conditioning coach Mario Villavarayan, the rest of the members have declined to travel to Pakistan. The Tigers are scheduled to play two Tests and three T20Is in Pakistan.

The five South African members of the coaching panel – head coach Russell Domingo, pace bowling coach Charl Langeveldt, batting consultant Neil McKenzie, fielding coach Ryan Cook and newly included physiotherapist Julian Calefato had already informed the board about their intentions. Spin-bowling coach Daniel Vettori as well as Bangladesh’s Indian analyst Thian Chandramohan will also be unavailable.

“We haven’t had any formal discussion in this regard as yet and when we have that we can tell you more precisely about the whole situation,” said BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

The Bangladesh board will take a final decision on the tour only after assessing the report of the security officials who visited Pakistan. For the time being, Bangladesh are gearing up for their upcoming tour of India. The Tigers will play three T20Is and two Tests in India next month.
