With Ranveer Singh finalised to play the lead role in the movie based on the 1983 World Cup, there can be yet another high profile actor in the movie as reports are suggesting that Katrina Kaif is quite keen to bag the role. The actress is looking to play the role of Romi Dev, wife of the legendary Kapil Dev whose role will be played by Ranveer.

Well, Katrina has a realistic chance of bagging the role as she enjoys a good rapport with Kabir Khan who will be directing the movie. The duo had previously collaborated on New York, Ek Tha Tiger and Phantom.

A source told DNA, “So far, Kabir has not locked the lead actress. Two other actresses have been finalised, one is a newcomer and another has been suggested by Ranveer.”

Meanwhile, while the movie is based on the historic triumph of 1983 World Cup, it is not a biographical film.

“First of all, it is not a film on me. So it is not my biopic. It is apparently a film on the 1983 World Cup. Not about me,” Kapil Dev had said last month.

When asked wasn’t he an integral part of the Indian team that won the tournament, he said: “I was! But so was Sunil Gavaskar, Mohinder Amarnath, and so many others. So the film will probably be as much about them, as me.”

On the other hand, Ranveer said that the story will emphasise more on the players than cricket.

“For our generation, cricket has always been the glamorous game but it wasn’t actually like that before. When Kabir sir started narrating the story it came as a shock to me. It was surprising to learn the odds against which they had to fight and rise. More than a great cricket story, it is a great human story,” Ranveer had said last week.
