Virat Kohli’s ever-growing list of fans has another name in the form of Zimbabwe star Brendan Taylor. The India star, on Friday, once again showed why he is widely considered the best batsman in the world at the moment. Kohli scored a sensational hundred in Ranchi during the third ODI against Australia to give India a shot at chasing down 314.

India were staring down the barrel after Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu departed with just 27 runs on the board. However, Kohli was unfazed by losing his partners at regular intervals and went on to produce another batting masterclass.

On a pitch where the other players did not look at ease, Kohli was playing a flawless innings. He went on to score his 41st ODI ton before being dismissed by Adam Zampa for 123. The knock came off just 95 deliveries and contained 16 fours and a six.  By scoring his 41st ODI hundred, he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most hundreds in India-Australia ODIs in India. This was his 8th ODI hundred against Australia and third of 2019 – incidentally, all his hundreds have come against the Aussies. He also became the quickest skipper to score 4,000 ODI runs.

And as soon as Kohli reached his hundred,  social media could not stop buzzing. From fans to players, past and present, almost everyone took to Twitter to bow down to the modern-day legend. Former Zimbabwe skipper Brendan Taylor was also one of them as he expressed his utter surprise on Kohli’s remarkable consistency.

He also felt that Kohli is the greatest of all time, writing:

“What will @imVkohli numbers be like in 10 year’s? Mind blowing! G.O.A.T surely ?”

In another tweet, he stated that even the thought of Kohli breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI hundreds in half the numbers of games the latter had taken to score 49 tons is scary.

“2) Scary to think he will probably pass @sachin_rt ODI 100s in half the amount of games ??,” wrote Brendan Taylor.
