CABI To Set Up Ground For Visually Impaired Sports Persons In Bengaluru

The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) has announced that visually impaired players will get an exclusive ground in the country. This is a major development for blind cricket in India. The ground will be set up in Bengaluru. CABI has approached the Karnataka government for the same.

It will likely be a dedicated sports training complex that will assist the players to develop into professional players. The request made to the government includes 25 acres of land–to set up a sports complex with a training ground, gymnasium and swimming pool.

Mahantesh GK, who serves as a President for CABI apart from being the head of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, told the media that the government has given a green signal.

CABI To Set Up A New Ground For Visually Impaired:

Mahantesh told the media that the association is looking for a suitable plot in Bengaluru. He added that the entire facility will aid the visually impaired people.

“Chinnaswamy Stadium is full most of the time and we can’t get permission to use it. Having a ground only for visually impaired sports persons will enable them to able to train anytime. We are also going to bring in top coaches. The government has given us a positive response,” Mahantesh said.

CABI has been working hard in the direction to uplift the blind cricket on the global level. The body has been encouraging visually impaired students and adults to participate more and more.

Furthermore, Mahantesh hinted towards the establishment of a league for the visually impaired cricketers.

“We are planning a routine cricket league and want to bring more women on to the field,” he concluded.
