Chennai Super Kings Use Game Of Thrones Quote To Address MS Dhoni's Retirement Speculations

Former India skipper MS Dhoni’s retirement speculations were on an all-time high on September 12 (Thursday) when Virat Kohli posted a message on Twitter thanking him for his contributions. But a few hours later, Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni and chief selector MSK Prasad squashed all those reports. Dhoni’s IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings also used a unique way to address the speculations.

Kohli shared a throwback picture on Thursday about his partnership against Australia in India’s league match of the 2016 T20 World Cup. Some on social media websites added further fuel to the fires, suggesting Dhoni has called a press conference at 7:00 PM.

However, Sakshi Dhoni and MSK Prasad rubbished all the reports saying that there is no update on the same as of now. While the social media platforms went gaga over speculations over MS Dhoni, his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings also posted a tweet ruling out any retirement news.

Chennai in dramatic fashion used one of the most famous quotes of the popular fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones, “Not Today’. quote was used in the series by the sword teacher of Arya Stark (the youngest of the Stark daughters), ‘Syrio Forel’. The complete quote goes as: “There is only one god, and His name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: ‘not today’.”

A few minutes later, a fan asked Chennai Super Kings to explain their tweet on MS Dhoni. The three-time IPL Champion then put a full stop (.) followed by a red cross and then a comma (,) followed by a green tick, clarifying that it’s only a brief pause in the career of Dhoni and an end hasn’t come yet.
