Cheteshwar Pujara, the Test specialist of the Indian cricket team, is known for his down the ground batting ability and for his simplicity. Pujara scores a lot of runs continuously with his bat but he prefers to stay away from the limelight. Currently, Pujara is playing for Team India on the New Zealand tour. Meanwhile, a video of Pujara has been shared on Cricbuzz, in which he has told about many aspects of his career.

Pujara, who is known as the ‘new wall’ in Team India, loves simplicity from the very beginning of his career. Now, during an interview to Cricbuzz, Pujara has revealed about his free cricket academy where underprivileged children are trained.

Cheteshwar Pujara Reveals About His Cricket Academy:

Pujara said, “When I started playing cricket, I had limited facilities. So my father thought that the youth should not struggle to get enough practice. In this academy, at least they should have sufficient infrastructure, obviously, how hard they work and how motivated they are to take it to the next level.”

There is a lot of difference between thinking and executing any work. Pujara and his father had to face a lot of difficulties to fulfil the academy’s fame.

Pujara added, “To be honest, it is a difficult task because I remember that when my father started building this ground, it was wasteland and we had to put hundreds of trucks of black soil in it to prepare it. My father had the knowledge to prepare a turf pitch.”

Speaking behind the idea of opening the academy, Pujara said, “Players should come here and concentrate on the game. So, if we have a big name or if we bring it out well then there will be many players who would like to be a part of it. But we want to limit the number. The reason is that we want to pay attention to quality. If we only see 35-50 players, then we know that we can focus on them. But if we have 100 children here, then we are not doing justice to all of them.”

Pujara is on the New Zealand tour these days. He has struggled to score runs in front of the Kiwi bowlers.

Under difficult circumstances, Pujara scored 11 off 42 balls in the first innings of the Wellington Test match and scored 11 runs off 81 balls in the second innings.

However, in the first innings of the second match, Pujara faced a half-century scoring 54 runs, facing 140 balls. But in the second innings, Pujara, who was batting on 24, could not read the Trent Boult’s banana inswinger before returning to the pavilion for 14 runs.
