Whenever Test format makes it way, the talks on Cheteshwar Pujara makes some noise. But, unfortunately, he was branded as the Test specialist even after scoring loads of runs in the white ball format in the domestic circuit. It certainly put him only in Test bracket and never really got the chances from the respective board to make a career in ODI or T20I format.

Cheteshwar Pujara was in outstanding form in Australia. Initially, he had bailed India out of trouble with a sublime 123 at the Adelaide Oval. Before that, he scored another half-century in the second innings, which ensured India had enough on the board to secure a historic win. Later, he knocked a blistering 193 to end series on a great note.

I Hope To Play ODI for India someday – Cheteshwar Pujara

In an exclusive interview with Gaurav Kalra of News18, Cheteshwar Pujara revealed that the mindset of people has branded him as the Test specialist. He wants everyone to have a look at his limited-over numbers in Indian domestic season and in the county season.

Further, he went on to show his optimistic side by adding that he would be back in blue Jersey one day for India. Pujara believes that people would understand him one day when he knocks runs in shorter versions of the game.

”Not at all. If you look at my List A cricket, the way I have batted the number of runs that I have scored is very good and when I played white ball cricket for Yorkshire last season, I scored many runs, I think I had a hundred and three fifties in about four innings which shows I can play white ball cricket,” he said.

”And I personally have no doubt about it that I can play white ball cricket and it is something where I can get a little more exposure, if I get more opportunity then things will change,” Pujara added. When asked whether he would play for India in ODI in his career again, ”Yes” he replied.

Well, it was an outstanding series for Cheteshwar Pujara, which he would cherish for a long time. Now, he will be playing a bit of domestic cricket in Ranji Trophy and then travels to England for a county stint with Yorkshire.
