The Universe Boss, Chris Gayle has added another feather to his illustrious career. Gayle scored only 15 runs in the first T20I against England but he was able to leapfrog Marlon Samuel’s tally of T20I runs. The combative southpaw opener needed only five runs to surpass Marlon Samuels. Gayle now has 1622 runs for the Windies in 57 T20I matches. On the other hand, Samuels has amassed 1611 runs in 67 matches.

Dwayne Bravo is the third highest run-scorer for the Windies as the stylish southpaw batsman has scored 1142 runs in 66 matches. Lendl Simmons is fourth on the list as he has scored as he scored 907 runs in 45 matches.

Meanwhile, India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma is the leading run-getter in the T20I version of the game. The flamboyant batsman has scored 2331 runs in 94 T20I matches. New Zealand opener Martin Guptill is the second highest run-scorer in T20I version as he has accumulated 2272 runs in 74 T20I matches.

Gayle has been in fine form as he had scored 424 runs in the five-match ODI series against England. He had scored his runs at an average of 106 and strike rate of 137 and smashed 39 sixes in the bilateral series.

On the other hand, the Windies lost the opening T20I by four wickets. The hosts scored 160 in their allotted 20 overs after England won the toss and decided to bowl first. Nicholas Pooran scored 37-ball 58 with the help of three fours and four sixes. Tom Curran continued his good form as he scalped four wickets in his four overs.

Meanwhile, England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow scored 68 off just 40 balls to help his team get over the line. Bairstow scored nine fours and two sixes in his match-winning innings.
