Chris Gayle had taken a potshot at his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchise Jamaica Tallawahs assistant coach Ramnaresh Sarwan for departing from the franchise right before the season to join St.Loucia Zouks. The swashbuckling West Indies all-rounder Chis Gayle had called his former national teammate worse than ‘coronavirus’, snake and further went on to launch a verbal jibe at him for ‘stabbing people in the back’.

A few days after taking a jibe at his former teammate, Chris Gayle, the best bastman for Jamaica Tallawahs was released by the franchise. Soon after his release there were plenty of speculations on the real reason behind the ouster. But it was finally cleared by a statement issued by the Jamaica Tallawahs.

Chris Gayle gave several reasons to not retain him: Jamaica Tallawahs

Jamaica Tallawahs said that Chris Gayle gave a plenty of reason for him to not be retained by the franchise. The franchise, however, said it had nothing to do with his personal stand about Ramnaresh Sarwan and was purely taken on ‘business and cricketing reason’.

“Gayle gave several reasons for the decision that was made not to retain him in the Tallawahs. However, the truth is that this decision was made collectively by the Ownership and Management team which did not include Ramnaresh Sarwan and based purely on business and cricketing reasoning,” the management said in a statement.

“Further, the Ownership and Management of the Tallawahs have no political affiliation with any political organization in any country of the Caribbean,” the CPL side added.

Gayle won the CPL title twice with the Tallawahs besides plying his trade for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the past.
