Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are devoid of the services of West Indies swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle from the onset of the season. KXIP team management had decided to go into the initial matches without Gayle but after not producing desired results and a few poor performances from Glenn Maxwell, he was in the reckoning.

However, things became worse for the Punjab outfit, as Gayle reportedly suffered from food poisoning and was admitted to the hospital in UAE. Gayle has now recovered and in all likelihood set to be a part in the KXIP side for their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Thursday.

Chris Gayle can make all the difference: Wasim Jaffer

KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have scored most of the runs for their franchise in absence of Gayle. The duo have stitched together important knocks but that has not reflected to the results as KXIP continue to remain at the bottom of the table. Their batting coach Wasim Jaffer said that the side is missing Gayle and he can make all the difference with his presence.

“We are missing him. He was supposed to play the last two or three games but he, unfortunately, suffered the stomach upset. He was hospitalised. He is fit now. Hopefully, for the next game, I can see him playing straightaway,” Wasim Jaffer told The Times of India.

Gayle is one of the cleanest hitters off the ball and when his bat does the talking he is hard to be stopped. Veteran West Indies batsman Gayle has established himself as a powerful striker of the ball not only for his national team but also in franchise leagues across the world.

Today, there is hardly any league left, where Gayle has not made his presence felt.
