England all-rounder Chris Woakes will miss the solitary ODI against Scotland on June 12th with a sore quadriceps muscle he suffered during the recently concluded Test match against Pakistan at Leeds.

Meanwhile, Tom Curran will replace him in the fifty-overs squad for the ODI against the Scotts.

However, doubts remain over Woakes participation in the upcoming ODI series against Australia. The Three Lions will play a five-match ODI series against the Aussies, starting June 13.

An assessment this week will figure out his participation in the upcoming ODI series.

It is not the first time the 29-year old will nurse a tight squad. A similar injury ruled Woakes out of the final leg of the ODI series against South Africa in 2017.

He later picked up a side strain after bowling just one over in England’s campaign opener at the Champions Trophy in 2017.

Later, he missed the remainder of the tournament with that injury.

Woakes’ injury, meanwhile, comes on the back of the premier all-rounder Ben Stokes‘s injury news. Stokes suffered a hamstring injury, scans on which revealed a tear in the left hamstring. He will also miss the Scotland ODI and the first part of the Australia series.

Woakes’s replacement, Curran, comes into the squad, having played five matches at the recently concluded IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

He picked up six wickets across five sporadic appearances, leaking runs at an economy of 11.6.

Curran though has been impressive in his brief ODI stint with England, picking up 12 wickets from eight games, including a five-for against Australia early this year.
