Colin Munro and Mujeeb-ur Rahman Set to Represent Hampshire in T20 Blast

New Zealand opener Colin Munro and Afghanistan mystery spinner Mujjeb-ur-Rahman have been signed by Hampshire for the upcoming T20 Blast. It will surely be a huge moment for Hampshire to bag the services of Munro and Mujeeb. The southpaw is the only batsman in the world to smash 3 T20I centuries in his career so far. However, he hasn’t been at his supreme best for the Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League.

The southpaw has been in and out of the side. He hasn’t been able to get his franchise off to a brisk start which he has often done for his nation. The southpaw has been in some stunning form for New Zealand. However, he hasn’t been able to replicate his form in the IPL which has been the case for so many players.

Munro has been a part of New Zealand playing XI in 45 T20I’s and has averaged 33.51 with an impressive strike rate. The southpaw will be part of the Hampshire squad throughout the month of July before South African speedster Dale Steyn replaces him. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old mystery spinner from Afghanistan has been quite a sensation for every franchise he has played for.

He has bagged 14 wickets in his opening session in the Indian Premier League so far for the Kings XI Punjab. He has bowled quite well. However, his injury has cost Punjab. They need to win their final match by a big margin if they want to keep their hopes alive for a qualification berth.

“Mujeeb has sort of burst onto the scene over the last six months,” Hampshire director of cricket Giles White was quoted as saying by BBC Radio Solent.

“He’s been one of the finds of the IPL, so he comes in great form. I think he’s one of the leading bowlers in the IPL and he brings something completely different. Not a lot of guys will have faced him. Colin has been very successful for New Zealand over the past couple of years, so they’re very exciting signings,” he added.
