ToggleIn the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in Mumbai, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has suspended all cricket matches due to be played between 14th March to 31st March in the city. A press conference was held on Saturday, wherein MCA secretary Sanjay Naik confirmed the news.
The Covid-19 coronavirus has taken a toll on various sporting events across the world, even leagues such as the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) have also been impacted.
In this scenario, it makes sense that the MCA has decided to postpone all the cricket matches until 31st March.

The MCA’s official Twitter handle released a statement on 14th March, regarding the postponement of fixtures.
“Mumbai Cricket Association has decided to postpone all its cricket matches which were scheduled to be played between 14th March and 31st March 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) situation,” read the tweet.
The pandemic has, so far, taken more than 5,000 lives globally, which is why sports tournament around the world are being postponed or cancelled to contain the outbreak of coronavirus.

The whole sporting fraternity has taken a hit due to the spread of coronavirus.
Football leagues have been postponed, Formula One has been impacted and cricket matches have also suffered as a result of the outbreak.
The IPL has been postponed until April 15, after authorities wanted the league to be played behind closed doors.
India’s ODI series with South Africa has been called off, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are currently in a conversation with Cricket South Africa (CSA) to reschedule the three-match series.
England’s tour of Sri Lanka has been cancelled as well. And these are just a few examples of the fiasco caused by the pandemic. Tough times, lie ahead.
