It looks like England are yet to get over the Mankading incident involving Ravichandran Ashwin and Jos Buttler in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). The India off-spinner has been hogging the limelight ever since Mankading Jos Buttler. The India ace faced widespread criticism for the dismissal that is very much legal but is widely considered against the spirit of the game. The likes of Shane Warne, Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, and Dale Steyn had slammed Ashwin for that act.

Ashwin was also trolled heavily across the internet for the incident. The latest to join the bandwagon is England’s County Championship. The Twitter handle of County Championship took a sly dig at Ashwin after the latter signed up Nottinghamshire. Warning the non-strikers in an apparent dig at Ashwin, the County Championship wrote:

“FYI non-strikers. Notts have a new signing! “

Ravichandran Ashwin, meanwhile, has signed up for Nottinghamshire for the second half of the ongoing county season. Ashwin will replace Australia’s James Pattinson as Nottinghamshire’s overseas player at the end of June. The Tamil Nadu ace is expected to feature in six of their final seven red-ball matches.

Ashwin will start his stint with Essex on June 30, followed by matches against Somerset and Surrey. He will miss the away fixture against Yorkshire but will return to play against Kent, Warwickshire and Surrey.

“I’m really looking forward to joining up with Nottinghamshire, to playing cricket at an iconic venue like Trent Bridge and hopefully contributing to some County Championship victories,” Ashwin was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo“I enjoyed my previous stint in England with Worcestershire. It’s a good, competitive standard of cricket over there and I can’t wait to get started.”
