A clinical effort from Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2018) franchise Guyana Amazon Warriors saw them cruise past Barbados Tridents, who has set a target of 166 runs at Kensington Oval, on August 31 (Friday) in CPL 2018.

However, while chasing the target Luke Ronchi and Chadwick Walton gave Warriors a breezy start and had scored a 96-run partnership for the first wicket. The duo had just made it in ten overs.

Moreover, on the other side, Tridents lost their first three wickets in the powerplay with just 39 runs on the scoreboard board. Steven Smith and Nicholas Pooran took the responsibility and contributed 86 runs for their team.

Smith scored 40 runs off 33 balls, and Pooran played fabulous innings of 46 runs in just 27 balls. Later, Shai Hope also added 34 runs in 24 deliveries. Sohail Tanvir, Roshon Primus, and Imran Tahir bagged two wickets each.

Furthermore, in reply, Amazon Warriors gave a fantastic start of 96 runs partnership between Luke Ronchi and Chadwick Walton. After the departure of Walton, Shimron Hetmyer added 30 runs with just 20 balls scoring three sixes and a boundary.

Wahab Riaz and Ashley Nurse are the only two bowlers to dismiss Hetmyer and Walton.

However, it was 146 runs on their board in the 15th over when Tridents’ bowler Riaz dismissed Hetmyer. It was a smart catch from Smith.

Ronchi and Delport lead their team with a comfortable win in the 17th over of the match. Warriors make their way in the top of the table with 10 points whereas, and Tridents are at the bottom with just four points in CPL 2018.

Ronchi was declared as the Man of the Match for his unbeaten knock to see his team over the rope convincingly.

Brief scores: Barbados Tridents 165/7 in 20 overs (Nicholas Pooran 46, Steven Smith 40; Imran Tahir 2-21) lost to Guyana Amazon Warriors 168/2 in 16.4 overs (Luke Ronchi 67*; Wahab Riaz 1-26) by eight wickets.
