Here comes yet another ouster from Cricket Australia. They have sacked the high-performance chief Pat Howard, who was about to leave from his role post the upcoming Ashes trophy 2019. It comes as a surprise, as none would have expected this call from the respective board on a person, who served for 11 long years.
Officially, his contract with Cricket Australia will end in 2019. During the course, the respective board in their performance review felt that they need to get the new person to replace Pat Howard immediately.
Pat Howard started his career by taking the role of team performance manager in 2011. Later, he has become part of many high’s and lows of the Australian team. Meanwhile, few sources quoted that Pat Howard’s winning mentality played a role in the ball-tampering saga during the review, which played a key role in his ouster.
Belinda Clarke to take the role of Pat Howard – Cricket Australia
Meanwhile, the former Women Cricketer Belinda Clarke will take the role of Pat Howard. It is learnt that Pat Howard will be leaving his role in the seven days of time from the official statement.
“While Pat Howard has previously made clear his intentions not to renew his contract next year, it has been decided to bring forward his departure which will take effect next week after a handover,” CA said in a statement.
“Belinda Clark … has agreed to take on the role of Interim EGM, Team Performance until Pat’s permanent replacement is announced in the new year. Kieran McMillan will step into the Interim EGM, Community Cricket role until such time that Belinda returns to her post,” it added.
Well, the departure of Pat Howard might be a massive blow for the board. However, the introduction of a new personality in the setup might also bring in the new changes, only time would reveal the things.
