Cricket Fraternity Send Birthday Greetings To Zaheer Khan

Let’s start the birthday of Zaheer Khan with a beautiful quote said by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.  The former skipper once said ”Zaheer Khan is Sachin Tendulkar of the Indian Bowling” The stylish left-handed bowler is celebrating his 41st birthday tonight and receives greetings from various parts of the cricketing fraternity.

The left-arm pacer was a key figure in India’s triumph in the 2011 World Cup as he bagged 21 wickets in the tournament, joint-highest along with Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi. Apart from that, he delivered goods time and time again for the Indian team with his clever tactics across the globe.

In a career spanning 14 years, Zaheer played 92 Tests for India, in which he bagged 311 wickets. In the ODIs, he fared a little better and took 282 wickets in 200 matches. He also played 17 T20Is for the Men in Blue bagging 17 scalps in 17 games.

He continues to remain associated with cricket post his retirement and was also appointed as Indian team’s bowling consultant overseas in 2017. Zaheer didn’t turn up in the role as his financial demands were not met by the BCCI.

He later was appointed as the Director of Cricket Operations by Mumbai Indians and worked closely with the players’ in the last edition helping them lift their fourth title after defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final.

“Happy Birthday @ImZaheer. Wishing you a wonderful day and the most amazing year Zak,” Laxman tweeted, referring to Zaheer Khan by his popular nickname. “Happy birthday Zak Bhai! Have a fabulous year ahead with loads of happiness and good luck,” Dhawan wrote on the microblogging site.
