The rich cricketing history has seen some of the fine players grace the game. Be it their batting, bowling or all-round performances; players have captivated the audience with their prowess. While some went on to be regarded as the legends of the game across formats, others faded away with time.
Let us look at five cricketers who went on to achieve the legendary status but could never lead their national team.
Senior England fast bowler James Anderson continues to lead his national team from the front with his bowling brilliance but he has never captained the national team in his long and successful career. Anderson made his international debut in the year 2002 and since then has played 151 Tests, 194 ODIs and 19 T20Is, picking up 584, 269 and 18 wickets respectively. He is also the leading wicket taker for England in Tests but never earned the captaincy hat despite all his contribution for the national team.
