Cricketers Sends Birthday Wishes to Down Under Series Hero, Cheteshwar Pujara
Updated - 25 Jan 2019, 07:59 PM
India’s number three Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara is celebrating his 31st birthday today. Pujara spent most of his day while doing what he loves the most in his life – that is batting. The right-handed batsman scored 45 runs while playing for his team Saurashtra in the semi-final contest against Karnataka in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.
In fact, Pujara also received a big gift form the standing umpire on his birthday. He had a big outside edge but the umpire didn’t hear it. Subsequently, Karnataka captain Manish Pandey was left fuming that Pujara didn’t walk.
Pujara was at his best in Australia.
However, Pujara played an uncharacteristic shot when he decided to pull a short ball which didn’t bounce much. The talisman batsman got the top edge which was comfortably taken by Abhimanyu Mithun.
Meanwhile, Saurashtra currently trails by 48 runs in the first innings. On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara was India’s hero on the recently concluded series against Australia.
The linchpin batsman scored 521 runs in the four-match series in which he faced 1258 balls. Pujara batted at the top of his game and scored three hundred in the series. Thus, he was instrumental in India’s maiden Test series triumph on the Australian soil. Subsequently, Pujara was awarded the Man of the series for his sublime form.
Pujara scored a brilliant knock of 123 when India had their backs against the wall in the first Test match at Adelaide when they reeling at 41-4. He rescued India out of the troubled waters and also scored a crucial knock of 71 runs in the second dig. Thus, he scored 194 runs in the match.
He scored a brilliant hundred in the third Test match at Melbourne and also scored a daddy hundred in the fourth Test match at Sydney Cricket Ground. Thus, it was a fine tour for Pujara.
