He was the first batsman to get dismissed on 199 in this longer version of the game. The Pakistan batsman smashed a brilliant 199 against the rival nation India. In second Test match of the series against India, Nazar scored 199 to anchor his side to 674/7 (d). The match and the three-match series between the arch-rivals ended in a draw.

The former skipper of the Indian National Cricket Team Mohammad Azharuddin also finds a place in the chart. The flamboyant batsman failed to get the run on 199, which saw him enter in the chart.  It was during the series against Sri Lanka, who toured India.

It was the first Test match of the series in Kanpur in 1986-87 and he was dismissed for 199. The match though ended in a draw. In 1988, Azhar once again missed out on a double hundred and this time it was New Zealand on the opponent side. He scored 192.

8. Matthew Elliot:

Elliot was the first Australian to be dismissed on 199 in Test format of the game. Australia’s Matthew Elliott lost his wicket for 199 against England in 1997. Though Australia won that match by an innings and 61 runs, his knock proved that they got the calibre to deal with the tough England bowling attack.

He thoroughly deserved a double but Darren Gough bowled Elliot through when he was on 199 and sent him back to pavilion. His 199 came in 351 balls with help of 26 fours and 3 sixes.

The legendary batsman of Sri Lanka finds a place in the chart. The swashbuckling opening batsman thrashed Indians at Colombo to register a Daddy Hundred but unfortunately, couldn’t get the run, which was required to lift his bat twice in the match.

When he was on 199, Kuruvilla got better of Sanath as he ran through his stumps to send back the Sri Lankan. As a result, Jayasuriya’s 199 run knock came to an end which was scored in just 226 balls which includes 21 fours and 2 sixes.

6. Steve Waugh:

Yet another Australian makes into the chart, as the former skipper Steve Waugh smashed a blistering 199 to his name. It was when Australian cricket team toured West Indies for a 4-match Test series in 1999. After two Test, the series was tied at one apiece and the visitors were looking to steal one game and take the lead in series.

Following a century in 2nd Test, he continued his form in 3rd Test by scoring 199 and helped Australia rack up 490 in the first innings. His dismissal at 199 was seen through by Nehemiah Parry who got Waugh trapped in front of the stumps. His innings of 199 came in 376 balls with help of 20 fours and a six.

The stylish batsman of England also finds a place in the chart. The Flamboyant batsman has delivered the goods when it was necessary for the team. His knock came after losing three quick wickets at the top.

Ian Bell while batting against South Africa was undone by Paul Harris for 199 in first innings of the first Test at Lord’s in 2008. The match ended in a draw. Bell scored 199 in 336 balls with 20 fours and a six.

4. Younus Khan:

It’s the most unfortunate thing for a batsman to get out on 199 and it’s even more terrible if he sent back after a run-out. The same happened with Younis Khan against India in 2006 in Lahore when the right-hander lost his wicket off a run-out while he was on 199.

Harbhajan Singh ended his stay as he mixed up with Afridi for a quick single to complete the double ton, but that eventually halted his innings one short of the milestone. Younis scored his 199 in 336 balls with 26 fours.

3. Steve Smith:

One of the best batsmen of the modern era Steve Smith also finds a place in the chart, as he was dismissed on 199 against West Indies. He was the third Australian to be dismissed in such a way. This was his highest individual score and also the second time that he got dismissed in 190s. The first time he got dismissed was against India in 2014.

His knock helped the visitors won the game quite convincingly and Smith was adjudged the Man of the Match.

2. KL Rahul:

Indian batsman KL Rahul missed out on a double hundred against England. He was dismissed for 199 in the first innings of the fifth and final Test match in Chennai. It was a brilliant knock considering the attack that England has got during the Test match.

The visitors won the toss and made a big total of 477, courtesy a Moeen Ali century. When India came out to bat, Rahul came up big and went on to score 199, accompanied by 16 fours and 3 sixes.

It was a wide delivery from Adil Rashid that turned away from him and hit it straight to Jos Buttler who was brought in there just because the batsman was on 199. It was a tragic end to a fantastic knock.

1. Dean Elgar:

South Africa opener Dean Elgar became the latest batsman to get out in 190s when he was dismissed for 199 against Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series in Potchefstroom by Mustafizur Rahman. Opener Elgar batted through the entire opening day for an unbeaten century as the hosts piled on the runs against a hapless Bangladesh bowling attack.

Rush of blood got the better of Elgar as he went for an expansive pull-shot but the ball took a thick top edge and was caught at mid-wicket by Mominul. It would have been his maiden double century. He is also the only South African to be dismissed on 199.
