Just after a couple of days to the culmination of Indian Premier League (IPL 2018), the massive and also the heartbreaking announcement by AB de Villiers came. He bids adieu to his International career saying that he was tired. However, critics never relaxed with his reason for retirement. Thus de Villiers drew criticism for his shocking retirement announcement. Meanwhile, the Proteas legendary fast bowler, Dale Steyn makes his voice out for de Villiers.

Speedster Steyn gives his backing to the master tactician for calling curtains on his career. Steyn also shuts the critic masters as well.

He is married and have children, and I only have dogs: Steyn said while comparing himself with AB

The aggressive, fast bowler furtherly added that it is hard for a cricketer to be involved with the team by leaving the family.

Mainly, with the kids around, leaving out the family will always be a tough call.

Comparing himself to de Villiers, he added that he and AB started their careers in the same year. Steyn ended up getting two dogs on his balcony while the classy batsmen managed to get a lovely family.

“I believe AB doesn’t deserve to get a bad rap. Even though we both made our Test debuts in 2004, him and I are in two completely different boats. He is married with children and I only have dogs. Family time is a big pull for him right now. We spend on average 220 days of the year out of the country. It’s a long time to be away from your family especially when your children are growing up,” Steyn was quoted as saying.

”Calling de Villiers a “phenomenal player”, Steyn said: “The pleasing aspect is the Proteas have managed to win without him. It’s nice that the circle (of talent) is getting bigger and there is hope for the future. Calling time on his international career has also given AB time to recover from a physical point of view. His back had been giving him trouble for so many years. Through sheer pride of representing South Africa, he pushed on.” Steyn inferred.

Currently, both the players are close to cricket in different ways. Dale Steyn is back after recovering from the heel injury (following shoulder injury) and slowly settling in for Proteas. He recently toured Sri Lanka with the team as well.

Coming the superhuman of cricket, he was recently named as the Brand Ambassador for the inaugural UAE T20X. It is also learnt that the classy right-hander will continue to ply his trade in IPL still his body permits him.
