The veteran cricketer of South Africa Dale Steyn showered words of praise on Jofra Archer for his incredible skills with the ball. He also expressed his concern for the youngster regarding his injury and asks England to find a way to counter injuries of the fast bowler.

Archer flew home from the tour of South Africa last week and has been ruled out of the Test series against Sri Lanka and the Indian Premier League (IPL). Speaking of the same, Steyn stated that England must quickly find a way to ensure Archer staying away from injuries.

Steyn further revealed his opinion on Archer when he first met him during his county stint. Archer was the most-used fast bowler of England in the last 12 months.

He played all the games in the 2019 World Cup and later appeared in the Ashes Trophy as well. He then toured New Zealand with England in November, where a stiff workload on unresponsive pitches raised some concerns.

“I love him. A good friend of mine is the brother of Mark Davis [the former Sussex coach] and a couple of years ago he told me that I had to watch this guy because he is amazing,” he maintained

“I saw him bowl two balls in the county circuit and I said this guy is going to be great. World Cup winner already. The rest is history. Pity about his elbow but that’s fast bowling. You will get an injury every now and then. He is phenomenal, he is great,” he added.

Meanwhile, Steyn is set to make his first international appearance in 11 months after being recalled for South Africa’s Twenty20 series versus England.

The 36-year-old fast bowler missed last year’s World Cup with a shoulder injury but is included in a squad once again for the T20I series.
