Danielle Wyatt Lavishes Praise On Virat Kohli After His Stunning Century Against Windies

Danielle Wyatt hailed Virat Kohli after the India skipper scored a stunning century in the first ODI against Windies.

Before coming out to bat against Windies in Guwahati, Kohli had last played an ODI on July 17 during the last ODI of the three-match series against England. The 29-year old had skipped India’s victorious Asia Cup-campaign to take some much-needed rest. However, more than three month’s absence from ODI cricket made no difference as Kohli hit the ground running.

Kohli came out to bat when Shikhar Dhawan departed after scoring just 4 while India was chasing an imposing 323. But instead of being cautious early on, Kohli took the Windies attack to the cleaners to ease off the pressure.  He came out all guns blazing and attacked to revive India’s chase.

The right-hander reached his 49th half-century off 35 balls. He slowed down a bit after the fifty but made sure that the required run-rate remains under control. He was ably supported by his deputy Rohit Sharma.  And he soon brought up his 36th ODI ton in the 27th over.

Kohli departed after scoring 140. Rohit, on the other hand, remained till the end, scoring 152 to take India home in just the 43rd over.

Kohli deservedly won the Man of the Match award for his stunning counter-attacking knock and has been receiving praise from all over.  And his long-term admirer Danielle Wyatt also took to Twitter to lavish praise on the India star, writing:

What a player ????

Kohli also achieved several milestones with his century. With the latest century, he reached the landmark of 60 international hundreds (36 in ODIs and 24 in Tests) and became the fastest to do so. He reached the landmark in 386 innings, taking 40 innings fewer than Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli now has eight centuries while chasing 300-plus totals in ODIs which is the most by any player.

During the knock, Kohli also breached the 2,000-run mark in international cricket this year. He thus became the 4th player to score 2000+ International runs in four consecutive years. He is also the 4th player with 2000+ International runs in five or more different calendar years. The Indian skipper is the first to complete 2000 International runs in the ongoing year. The 29-year old  scored his 14th hundred as India’s ODI captain.  He is now second in the list of most ODI centuries as skipper. The list is led by former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting who scored 22 hundreds in 230 ODIs.
