Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has once again taken a shot at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Taking a dig at the board in the wake of Umar Akmal’s sentence being reduced to half, the former spinner said the zero-tolerance policy applies only on him and not others in Pakistan.

Danish Kaneria, who was given a life ban by English cricket chiefs that effectively applied worldwide, has constantly called out PCB over the lack of support. He has constantly maintained that the Pakistani authorities treat him differently because of his religion.

Earlier this week, Akmal’s three-year ban from cricket for failing to report a match-fixing approach was reduced to 18 months on appeal. Thus, he will be eligible to return to action in August next year.

But unlike Akmal, Danish Kaneria has not been lucky and is still trying to persuade the PCB for some relief. And the latest turn of events have further upset him. He took to his official Twitter handle to express his frustration over the life-ban as he posted:

“Zero Tolerance policy only applies on Danish Kaneria not on others, can anybody answer the reason why I get life ban, not others, Are policy applies only on cast, colour and powerful background. I am Hindu and proud of it that’s my background and my dharam.”

Danish Kaneria is only the second Hindu to play Test cricket for Pakistan and he went on to make a big mark. He is the fourth highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in Test. With 261 wickets to his name, he is only behind Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Imran Khan in the list.

No other spinner from Pakistan has taken more Test wickets than him . The former leg-spinner, however, is facing a lot of trouble and is unemployed from the last one decade after being banned for life for spot-fixing scandal. He was given a lifetime ban by the ECB after allegations of him being involved in spot-fixing. He subsequently filed an appeal against the ban, but it was rejected in July 2013.
