South Africa’s destructive batsman David Miller has endorsed Quinton de Kock as the most suitable captain for South Africa in the limited-overs cricket. De Kock recently replaced Faf du Plessis as the new captain for the Proteas in ODIs.

After a disappointing run in the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019, Cricket South Africa decided to take some major decisions and hence Du Plessis was axed from captaincy.

Now, Miller believes that the board has made the right choice and seems excited about a new start under De Kock.

De Kock has been a great asset for the Proteas since his in 2013. Not only does he opens the batting for the Africans but also he’s a good wicket-keeper behind the stumps. He is one of the most explosive young batsmen in the world with a knack for always scoring quick runs.

The explosive opener is also the fastest South-African to score 1000 ODI runs and when you have got legends like Hashim Amla, Ab de Villiers, and Faf du Plessis representing the same nation, this record speaks volumes about De Kock’s potential.

David Miller Backs De Kock As The New Captain:

Miller has reflected on his relationship with De Kock and said that both the cricketers share a special bond.

“Quinny and I have come a long way. I’d never met him before playing for South Africa, and our relationship has got stronger and stronger,” Miller said.

Miller believes that De Kock is a much more mature player now and has a pinch of calmness added to his game. Miller said that De Kock’s understanding of the game has improved to a great extent over the years.

“As everyone knows, Quinny is Quinny. He’s an unbelievable performer, thinks about things very simply, but at the same time, I genuinely think as he’s got older – he’s 27 now, he’s not a young whipper-snapper, he’s actually a mature, proper senior player, and I really feel he’s got a great feel on the ground, during the game he’s got a great understanding of the game. There’s a calmness to him that comes with that. He oozes enjoying the game and I think that’s a great asset that he has,” Miller said.

South Africa had a disappointing run in the ICC Cricket World 2019 and finished on the seventh position.

The team lost five games out of the nine games that it played. Questions were raised on Du Plessis’ captaincy from that moment itself.

Recently, Cricket South Africa (CSA) decided to replace him and De Kock was appointed as the new captain.
