Australia star David Warner has made it clear that he has no intention of clearing the air with South Africa’s Quinton de Kock after their stairwell fight during Australia’s last visit to the African country in 2018. The infamous tour was marred by a number of controversies and culminated with the Sandpaper gate.

David Warner and de Kock delivered one of the ugliest moments of the bitter when they were involved in a stunning spat on a staircase after play in Durban. The matter got out of hands when the South Africa wicketkeeper made a derogatory comment about Warner’s wife Candice and her tryst with rugby star Sonny Bill Williams.

Later, David Warner had called the sledge ‘vile and disgusting’. But the Australia star was in for more painful experience in Port Elizabeth when a number of fans – and two Cricket South Africa officials – were photographed wearing Williams face masks.

And as both the teams gear up for the first T20I on Friday, David Warner said he hadn’t spoken to de Kock since the heated 2018 series. He also stated that he is no mood to clear the air with de Kock. At the same time, he played down suggestions of bad blood between him and the newly appointed Proteas captain.

“Obviously we’ll cross paths playing against each other. But I don’t have his number and I speak to a few of the South African guys but I’ve never played in the same team as him or anything like that,” David Warner told reporters in Johannesburg.

“Obviously it’s a little bit different. I’m sure if I see him on the field and that, we’ll just treat each other how we normally would as respectful opponents,” he added.
