Australia’s banned batsman David Warner will return back to the country after suffering an elbow injury in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League. Warner suffered the blow when he scored an unbeaten knock of 61 runs from 36 balls while playing for Sylhet Sixers against Rangpur Raider.

In fact, David Warner also made news as he batted right-handed. Warner also hit Rangpur Raider batsman Chris Gayle for a straight six. He scored 14 runs from three balls. However, Warner is expected to play some more matches for the franchise before he comes back to Australia.

Warner will go back to Australia.

A CA spokesperson has confirmed that Warner will return to Australia on January 21.

“David has reported some pain in his right elbow. He will return to Australia on Monday 21 January to be assessed, but is expected to play in remaining BPL matches until his return,” a CA spokesperson said as quoted by Fox Cricket.

“We will have a clearer understanding of the extent of the injury once he has been assessed.”

In fact, suspended Steven Smith had also returned back to Australia due to the same injury. Smith has undergone surgery on his elbow and he could return to action after six weeks. Thus, this is not a good sign for Australia who desperately needs their star batsmen to be fit and firing.

Australia is not in the best of forms in the recent past and the return of Smith and Warner will be a shot in the arm for the team before the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Warner is leading Sylhet Sixers in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League. Sixers won the 18th match of the season by 27 runs. Liton Das scored a quickfire inning of 70 runs off just 43 balls to help his team post a big total of 187 runs.
