Tainted Australia batsman David Warner, on Friday, announced he will ply his trade for Sylhet Sixers in the upcoming season of Bangladesh Premier League.

David Warner will be soon seen lighting up Bangladesh with his explosive batting in the next season of Bangladesh Premier League. The hard-hitting batsman himself revealed he had signed with the Sylhet Sixers on the club’s official Facebook page. The Bangladesh Premier League will run from January 5 to February 8.

“I’m very excited to let you know that I’m now a Sixer. I can’t wait to be a part of the Sylhet Sixers family. See you soon!” Warner said in the video.

Warner along with former captain Steve Smith and opener Cameron Bancroft is currently serving bans for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal during the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town in March this year.

In the wake of the scandal, Cricket Australia had slapped lengthy bans on the trio. While Smith and Warner received one-year ban each, Bancroft was docked with a nine-month suspension.  Smith also had to give up his captaincy. The trio was banned from playing international and first-class cricket for their states.

However, they are allowed to play club cricket and in foreign competitions. As a result, the trio returned to action soon after being banned.

Smith, and Warner made their return to field through the inaugural Global T20 Canada league. The duo also played in the Caribbean Premier League.  Bancroft, on the other hand, made his return through the NT Strike League in Darwin. Warner has also played in the NSW Premier Cricket competition for Randwick-Petersham, where he smashed a hundred.

The southpaw’s ban will end at the end of March next year.
