Mohsin Khan, the left-arm pacer from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) was the toast of the evening as he helped his team beat Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 45th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 1.

Chasing 196 to win the match and climb up the IPL 2022 points table, DC found themselves struggling against the LSG speedsters Dushmantha Chameera and Mohsin Khan. Chameera dismissed Prithvi Shaw for 5, while Warner fell to Mohsin for 3 runs.

Though Rishabh Pant (44) and Mitchell Marsh (37) added 60 runs for the 3rd wicket in a counterattacking partnership, Krishnappa Gowtham removed Marsh and Mohsin accounted for Pant to peg DC back. In the end, DC managed to get pretty close thanks to Axar Patel’s 42* in 24 balls with 3 sixes and 1 four, but finished with 189/7 in 20 overs and lost the match by 6 runs.

Mohsin Khan was named the Player of the Match for his amazing bowling performance as he took his IPL best bowling figures of 4/16 in 4 overs.

Here is what he said during the post-match presentation:

I am very happy and my parents must be watching this. I am very happy that the team is winning thanks to my performance. Hard work is obviously there, but one needs blessings from parents as well.

My favorite dismissal was setting up Rishabh Pant. I was bowling back of a length, but then KL Rahul told me to bowl full as he might not expect it. I did the same and got him out. I stick to the process I have followed in the past and don’t try anything different. KL Rahul also tells me to do the same thing I have been doing, bowling back of a length, slower ones, and to do what you do in nets, in the match as well.

He tells me to keep it simple and do things as I normally would do. Yes, there will be celebrations as my parents, my coach will be very happy.

(On his bowling speed) From the start, since I was 9-10, I wanted to bowl fast and have always done so. I started thinking about swing only after coming in IPL. I will continue to do well for the team and only want to contribute to the team’s win.”
