West Indies star all-rounder, Deandra Dottin feels Indian opener, Smriti Mandhana is currently amongst the top five players in the world. Dottin will be playing under Mandhana for the Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 challenge set to commence on November 4th in UAE.
The Women’s T20 challenge will be played between three teams; Supernovas, Trailblazers, and Velocity. Smriti Mandhana will be leading Trailblazers, Harmanpreet Kaur will lead Supernovas, and Mithali Raj will captain Velocity. The tournament will be played from November 4th, with the final taking place on November 9th.

Deandra Dottin has voiced her opinion on the way Smriti Mandhana plays, and she feels that India’s reputed opener is amongst the top five batswomen currently. Dottin says Mandhana is an excellent player and has the capability to take the game away from the opposition very quickly. She would want to take a leaf out of Mandhana’s book on proper shot selection.
In an interaction with ANI Dottin said, “I rank her (Mandhana) in the top five players in the world right now, to be honest, she’s an excellent player and she can take away the game in a flash. I would like to learn how not to get into trouble with having a lot of shots in my book.”

The 29-year-old said that she is very excited to be playing in this competition and praised the organizers for making such a high-profile tournament possible amidst the pandemic. She wants to contribute to the Trailblazers in winning the title and also wants to be the first to score a century in the competition. Dottin has two T20I centuries to her name.
“I am very excited to be playing in the Women’s T20 Challenge and also for the Trailblazers. It’s been a great effort from everyone – organisers, IPL and BCCI to pull off the tournament in UAE. As a player we feel very lucky that we are getting an opportunity to play and enjoy our cricket.”
“Well I’m looking to help Trailblazers to win the tournament and also be the first to score a century in the competition,” she added.
