Ahead of the final ODI of the 3-match series against West Indies, the Indian National Cricket Team are struck with a significant blow with Deepak Chahar being ruled out of the final ODI. The young bowler Navdeep Saini, who recently regained his fitness, has been asked to fill in the slot for the third ODI at Cuttack, which will be played on Sunday.

Deepak Chahar wasn’t comfortable with his lower back after the second ODI played in Vizag. The BCCI medical team checked him and has suggested that the fast bowler needs some rest in order to recover fully. Thus the management decided to rest him for the final ODI and asked Navdeep Saini to be available for the team.

The Virat Kohli-led side already lost the services of the Bhuvneshwar Kumar ahead of the series alongside Jasprit Bumrah, who wasn’t considered for the series. “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Navdeep Saini as a replacement for the injured Deepak Chahar for the third match of the ongoing Paytm ODI series against West Indies,” the BCCI said in a release on Thursday.

“Deepak felt mild pain in his lower back following the second ODI played in Vizag on Wednesday. The BCCI medical team examined him and has suggested that the fast bowler needs some rest in order to fully recover. He has thus been ruled out of the final ODI,” the release read further.

Well, it would be interesting to see how the Indian management will sort out the latest problem ahead of the third ODI. Navdeep Saini could make his debut for the team, with no other fast bowler available in the squad. He performed brilliantly for the team when he made his T20I debut against the same team.
