Former India cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar, who has served in the administrative role for the cricket board, was one of the many with Suryakumar Yadav not being picked up in the squad for tour Down Under. Vengsarkar said that Yadav is one of the most talented cricketers and the matter should be probed.

Suryakumar Yadav has consistently done well on the international circuit and has been a game changer in the IPL. He has notched up the scores of 40, 0, 10, 53, 79, 27, 10, 0, 47 in the lucrative tournament this year. There has also been some match-winning performances included it in. However, it was not enough for him to find a spot in the T20I squad.

I’m astounded at the omission of ‘Surya’: Dilip Vengsarkar

“I’m astounded at the omission of ‘Surya,’ who is currently one of the most talented batsmen in the country, from the teams selected for the Australian tour. As far as sheer potential is concerned, I can compare Surya with the best in the Indian team. He has scored runs consistently. I don’t know what else he has to do to merit a place in the Indian team,” Vengsarkar told the Times of India.

Earlier when Mumbai Indians played against Kolkata Knight Riders, Yadav played a match-winning knock. KKR toiled hard but failed to get among wickets as Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma took them to the cleaners. Stepping in to bat at No.3, Yadav hit quick-fire 47 runs off 28 deliveries, laced with six boundaries and one hit over the fence to help his side reach a total of 195/5.
